In camp on Green River
July 16th 1865.
Dearest Jennie, Since I sent you a telegram from south Pass I have rode on horseback 125 miles in three days exploring the country south of South Pass to satisfy myself that there is no better line than I have run and the three last days of the week we have been running a line from Blacks Fork to Green River at the mouth of Bitter Creek which is 5 miles below my present camp. We shall finish this survey tomorow noon if the weather is favorable and then start for Salt Lake city. Where I expect to Arrive next Saturday. And shall expect to receive letter from you and N.
